A Matter of Perspective

On February 21st, I published a history of the current Russian-Ukrainian conflict. Although it was my intention and hope to be neutral, I feel that the issue itself is one sided, and thus although being sympathetic to Ukraine and Ukrainians, my article was a defense of Russia and an explication of the Russian perspective. At that time, I thought a Russian intervention, let alone a war with Ukraine, was unlikely, but alas, at the time of my writing this, war has now been going on for days. It is times like these where I am forced to question my convictions. I did not want war, but I knew that with the way America and western forces were manipulating and arming Ukraine, and with the sanctioning of Nord Stream II, war was a possibility. However, I still felt that war with Ukraine was not advantageous to Russia. Now that the war is ongoing, I am still unsure how it will ultimately benefit Russia, but evidently the Russians believe it will be. I still stand with Russia and support them in this war, alas this is still not the outcome I was praying for.

Despite what some might think, the sources I consume are rather diverse. I have never shied away from listening to left wing and mainstream sources, even if I find that doing so is often taxing. I say this to demonstrate how my positions and beliefs are not the product of an “echo chamber”. It is difficult to maintain beliefs which are utterly outside that of what is normal to one’s society/community. It is isolating, but in a way this isolation is good as it prevents one from becoming too wed to the world. Even with faith and conviction it is still difficult, not because of externalities but because in my heart, there is nothing fundamental that unites me to the majority of the people I will encounter in a day. As such, I am constantly forced to consider and reconsider my positions on politics, social issues, philosophy, and faith. After all, western institutions insist that the democratic majority cannot err, and it is practically hubris and arrogance to assume that I, as a single individual alone, am correct regarding the things which I believe. Am I just a contrarian, someone destined to be unsatisfied with the status quo, regardless of what that status quo might be? Would I, had I lived in Imperial Russia, gleefully joined the Bolsheviks in revolution? Is my spirit one of rebellion, asociality, and misanthropy? These are the questions I ask myself, and I think these are questions we should all ask ourselves.

The western world stands against Russia, and by extension, me. I personally have nothing to gain from this war, and nothing really to lose either. At most, this war will cost me by preventing the release of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 and Atomic Heart, the former by occupation and the latter by sanction. My main hope for the end of the war is the destruction of the uncannonical Orthodox Church of Ukraine, and thus the restoration of communion between Moscow and Constantinople. Alas, this is unlikely as I doubt Constantinople would accept the destruction of a body that they, with American help, created and control. In many ways, there will only be bad outcomes from this war. Animosity between NATO and Russia are at an all time high, thus risking the entry of other nations into this conflict, either by providing aid or support to Ukraine, or outright joining the war on the Ukrainian side. Russia is now even more of a pariah internationally, and will most likely be forced to strengthen their alliance with China and become combative to the west. Alas, I understand why Russia is upset. The west tried to destroy Russia in the 1990s, and have continued to antagonize Russia and disregard Russian interests and security concerns. The war in Ukraine is a product of the sins of America, or the Empire of Lies, of which my nation of Canada is a vassal to. The war in Ukraine is Russia proclaiming that they are done. Enough is enough.

Alas, the war may be just, but this does not mean that the Ukrainians are at fault, or at least those Ukrainians outside of the political system. Ukraine was lied to by America and the west. They were lied to when they were promised that they would be able to join NATO. They were lied to when they were led to believe that they could win the war in the Donbass. Lastly, they were lied to when America promised that in the event of war, Ukraine would be defended by the western powers. The west played Ukraine off against Russia, never once considering what was in the interest of the Ukrainian people. Had they considered the well-being of Ukraine, they would have encouraged Ukrainian leadership to continue in their partnership with Russia, or as a truly neutral buffer between western Europe and Russia. Alas, now after all the west’s broken promises, manipulations, and lies, Ukrainians will be made to suffer through a one-sided war that could have easily been avoided.

During the Russo-Japanese War, Orthodox Christians living in Japan felt conflicted over who to support in the war. Do they support their homeland or those of their faith? St. Nicholas of Japan said that it was right for one to support their nation, even if one is more inclined to support the enemy. Yet I still support Russia in this war, even as the leadership of my country and the majority of my countrymen do the opposite. If war were to break out between Canada and Russia, I could not in good conscience support my nation and I would probably welcome a Russian invasion. When Japan warred against Russia, Japan was not fighting to oppose God, the natural order, and nature itself. It was a war between countries which had conflicting interests, and thus it is one’s patriotic duty to support the interests of one’s nation. In a war between Russia and Canada, one side would be fighting to promote the rights of transgender children, gay “marriage”, abolition of authentic Christianity, and anti-traditionalism. If one is allied with those who promote the mutilation of children, I do not know how one of good conscience can claim to be on the side of the good. Russia is not perfect, but compared to how morally debased the west has become, Russia is a shining beacon worthy of emulation.

I support Russia and maintain the views I do because I believe in the existence of Truth. This is why I do not think that I am a blind opponent to that which is normative. It is my hope that in whatever society I would have found myself in, I would maintain this belief and thus have come to the same conclusion that I have now. If Truth exists, then it is objective and unchanging. Therefore, if one is inclined to the Truth, they will seek it out and will be conformed bodily, mentally, and spiritually to it. If socialism, democracy, communism, capitalism, or Islam were this Truth, then I would adhere to those things. Alas, Truth is the person of Christ, and in my study of Him I have come to conform my views in accordance with Orthodoxy, Autocracy, and Nationality, or God, King, and Nation.

A Brief Comment on Chechen Involvement

For those who claim Putin is being anti-white for using Chechen soldiers in the war against Ukraine, firstly, Chechens are a Caucasian people not Turkic. Dagestanis are Turkic, but Chechens are not. Secondly, the same type of people who once advocated for a “white sharia” are now protesting the Chechens being used in a war against Christians. These same people are usually pagan and have little love for Christianity normally, but now find themselves modifying their position. I suggest that these people should reconsider their views and strive for consistency. Lastly, the use of Chechens in combat by the Russian Federation is not about Islam vs Christianity, or non-whites assaulting whites. It’s about Russia employing its subjected Muslim vassal, a vassal that has proved its combat capability in the past. It is completely reasonable for Russia to employ Chechens in such a way, as it gives the Chechens the opportunity to act autonomously whilst serving Russia as a whole. This is also how the armies of the Russian empire functioned, with even a distinct subset of non-Christian medals being established to reward non-Christian soldiers who served the Empire.

  1. Hello G – K & N,

Great analysis of the Russia – Ukranian situation. As an Amer-I-can, as opposed to an US-i-can’t – I could not agree more with you loyalty to TRUTH, no matter the source.

Please keep me informed of you writings.

    Kindest regards,

  2. “They were lied to when they were promised that they would be able to join NATO.”

As I remember, a country can not join NATO if it have a “inner conflict” or lack of public support (or something similar). I don’t think that they were “lied to”, they could just have read the rulebook.
